Bloom Day June 2013 – Delta Park linden trees

We’re back at Delta Park (first introduced in this post) today, this time for a baseball tournament.  Frustrated by wind conditions that prevented me from getting some shots of different trees elsewhere originally intended for this post, I was glad to find this row of linden trees (Tilia sp.) in full bloom.

The Portland Parks and Recreation Delta Park tree map  doesn’t include this portion of the park, so I don’t know which species of linden these are.  They’re chock-full of blooms.

A beautiful weekend for baseball and for admiring trees!  Head on over to to view flowers in bloom near and far.

I didn’t realize Linden trees grew here, I used to see them in Denver. Nice informative post!

  2. Thanks for reading, Hannah. Keep an eye out — this is a popular street tree in Portland, most conspicuous now when the flowers are doing their thing.

  3. Julie Fukuda says:

The flowers are really lovely. I am more used to seeing the interesting seeds. (And using the wood for carving).
